Sandra Michaels, M.S., Organization Development Consultant guides managers in developing teamwork and relationships with their employees; designs and facilitates strategic planning forums, multi-cultural groups, creative workshops and programs; and assists individuals and groups in stress and lifestyle management during times of uncertainty and transition. Sandra has been working in this capacity for over 15 years with Intel, Boeing, Federal Government, medical centers and various colleges and businesses. In Seattle, she had a part-time private counseling practice for 10 yrs specializing in small group work in addition to a business career. Masters in Counseling, Eastern Washington University & BA in Business Administration, University of Puget Sound.

Background:

Sandra’s career has led her to develop a broad base of experience in organization development, project management, business and psychology.

At an early age she was on a fast track in contract management but began changing careers in the 1980’s to pursue more "people oriented" kinds of work. After serious consideration, she attained a Masters of Science degree in Counseling. Developing the potential in people and teams has been her passion. Sandra’s approach is dynamic in an organizational context and over the years, she has accrued a variety of skills and experience to integrate multiple functions and personalities in a systematic way.

Her education and “hands on” experience in business and in counseling allowed her to develop a dual career path. A master’s degree in counseling has been a springboard to do internal consulting, organization development, experiential training and mediation in conjunction with a business career at Boeing. Sandra’s dual background allowed her to embrace a variety of opportunities at Boeing because it was an enormous organization and constantly changing. At Intel she developed and facilitated a very effective strategic planning for the director and his management team and facilitated multi-cultural teams in a unique high-tech culture.

Methodology

Underlying everything she does is the capacity to identify and develop all levels of motivated employees and managers in the organization no matter what the subject, culture or focus. Initially or inevitably, there is conflict involved in the group process. One of Sandra’s strengths is helping organizations and people sort out their issues, resolve their conflicts and move on to the tasks assigned to them. She works with the energy of the organization, group or individual. A combined business and counseling background has given Sandra an underlying advantage in facilitating the group processes necessary in team building, consulting and developing the behavioral and organizational side of project management and business.
